The Review Process + General Application Information

General Application Information

The admissions application process is made of two parts. Part 1 takes place online and takes approximately 30 minutes. Part 2 consists of sending all of the requested documents to our Office of Admissions by mail. Please note that once you begin the online process, you cannot stop and restart the process at a later time. So before you begin-

  • Have 30 uninterrupted minutes available
  • Have a pen and paper in case you want to write anything down
  • Have your personal information at hand-See Application Checklist
  • It is recommended that you arrange for your computer to be connected to a printer
    (If you don't have a printer, you will be able to save the documents and print them out later)
Be prepared to write a 500 word essay answering one of the followings questions:
1) In what ways can your fellow students help you to achieve your learning goals at the University of the People?
Or
2) How do you think your university studies will affect your career in the future?
We recommend writing it in advance in a "Word" document and then copying and pasting into the text body.

  • Fill in the online application form
    All text MUST be entered in English throughout the entire application or it will not be accepted
  • Read the Enrollment Agreement, and the Disclaimer Form, print, sign and mail
  • Print the filled-in application form, sign and mail

Receiving Your Application

Please note that it is your responsibility to submit your online application and to send all the required materials and signed forms to our Office of Admissions. We will not consider applications that will be received at our Office of Admissions after the deadline (See Deadlines).
 
We respectfully request that applicants refrain from calling the Office of Admission to check on the status of their application. Please note, the University will only respond with a final answer to your application by July, 20 2009.  In case you have not received an answer by July 20, 2009, please contact our Admissions Advisor at  Admissions@uopeople.org.
 
  Each application is thoroughly reviewed by our staff and supervised by the Admissions Committee.

Making Our Decision

  1. The university is not obligated to accept all applicants. The criteria for acceptance will include the availability of a place in the course chosen by the applicant and the judgment of university staff as to the ability of the applicant to successfully complete the program.
  2. All applicants must participate in the two orientation courses and successfully pass the final exam as a pre-requisite to continuing their studies at the University of the People.
  3. Upon passing the exam for the orientation courses, we will confirm your status as a student in the University of the People for the relevant program via email.
